Hier finden sich die Begriffe wie details und Nichtinformation sowie die Aufteilung in Nachrichten, Berichte, Unterhaltung und Werbung wieder. Weiterhin erläutere ich am Beispiel des Programmbereichs „Nachrichten“, wie sich Auswirkungen der Selektionsweise der Medien auf die Gesellschaft verstehen lassen. Die Realitätskonstruktion der Massenmedien ist dabei eine Folge, die sich aus der bestimmten Weise der Erzeugung von Identität und der Einbeziehung von Schemata in das soziale Gedächtnis ergeben.
Abschließend ergibt sich noch die Frage nach strukturellen Kopplungen des Mediensystems mit anderen Systemen der Gesellschaft.
